Burnley have received no approach for forward Alex MacDonald from Rochdale, according to assistant manager Jason Tindall.
New Dale boss John Coleman is reportedly an admirer of the Clarets youngster from his time as Accrington manager and, although no move has been made at this stage, Tindall did not rule out a loan move for the 21-year-old.
"At this moment in time there's been no phone call made," said Tindall. "Until that happens, then obviously it will be a decision for myself and the gaffer (Eddie Howe) to make. But as it stands, no we've not (received an offer).
"Of course, we'd certainly think about it because for any player that's not playing consistently, especially at a league level, it can be frustrating.
"We've got to be seen to be doing what's right for the player in terms of his progression.
"If an opportunity comes along for Macca, that is right for the football club and right for him then obviously we will think long and hard about it and make the right decision."
