Carlisle's new loan signing Jordan Cook is keen to earn an extension with the club after joining for an initial month.
The Sunderland striker, 21, who has followed former team-mate Liam Noble from the Stadium of Light to Brunton Park, teamed up with the Cumbrians on Monday.
Cook told Carlisle's official website: "The initial deal is only for a month, but if things go well and I'm playing enough games, I can't see why it wouldn't be extended.
"My first aim though is to do as well as I can when I get my chance and help the team get into the play-off positions and stay there."
Cook said midfielder Noble, who recently signed a permanent deal with the Cumbrians following his loan spell, had helped convince him to complete the switch.
He added: "When Liam came back to Sunderland to train a few weeks ago I mentioned to him that Carlisle were interested and he told me it would be a great move. He said the team are full of confidence and playing good football on a fantastic playing surface and that just made me even keener to come."
