Colchester manager John Ward has the backing of the dressing room, according to striker Steven Gillespie.
Ward was subjected to calls for his sacking from some unhappy U's fans towards the end of Saturday's desperate 2-1 home defeat to bottom-of-the-table Chesterfield.
But Gillespie, who levelled matters against the Spireites with his third league goal of the season, has thrown his support behind the Colchester boss.
"It's up to the players to turn things around. The players are definitely behind John. He has been very good to me, he signed me when I was 19 and he's given me a chance here," Gillespie told the Green'Un.
