On-loan Manchester City striker John Guidetti has earned a first senior call up for Sweden after scoring 18 goals in 17 games for Feyenoord.

The 19-year-old has become a cult figure in Rotterdam with Feyenoord fans launching a campaign to keep the striker beyond the end of this season.

He will now get a chance to build a reputation with fans in his homeland with a place in the squad for next week's match against Croatia.

"I think he clearly deserved it with the performances he has shown at club level," coach Erik Harmen told the Swedish Football Association's website.

"I see John as the front forward, either alone in a 4-2-3-1 or as one of two."

Harmen is looking to use the match to finalise his plans for the Euro 2012 squad, and with that in mind, Guidetti is the sole uncapped player in a largely experienced squad.

Sweden Squad: Andreas Isaksson, Johan Wiland; Mikael Antonsson (Bologna), Andreas Granqvist (Genoa), Mikael Lustig (Celtic), Daniel Majstorovic (Celtic), Olof Mellberg (Olympiacos), Jonas Olsson (West Brom), Martin Olsson (Blackburn); Behrang Safari (Anderlecht), Emir Bajrami (FC Twente), Rasmus Elm, Samuel Holmen (Istanbul BB), Kim Kallstrom (Lyon), Sebastian Larsson (Sunderland), Anders Svensson (Elfsborg), Pontus Wernbloom, Johan Elmander (Galatasaray); John Guidetti (Feyenoord), Tobias Hysen, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ola Toivonen.
