West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has tipped new signings Ricardo Vaz Te and Nicky Maynard to fire his side to promotion.

Carlton Cole is currently West Ham's top scorer with nine goals, while the table toppers needed a late volley from defender Winston Reid to beat Millwall 2-1 on Saturday.

But former Barnsley winger Vaz Te made a lively cameo from the bench and fellow deadline-day signing Maynard is in line to make his debut at Peterborough this weekend.

Allardyce said: "Reid's goal was the first time we've scored in open play for God knows how long so it's been a long time coming.

"But that's why we've bought Ricardo Vaz Te and Nicky Maynard particularly. That's why we're looking to up our record of goals from open play."
